Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak who was born in Sakarya in 1962 graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Department of Aeronautical Engineering in 1983. He completed his Master’s Degree in 1985 in ITU and received his Ph.D. from ITU Graduate School of Science Engineering and Technology in 1994. In Sakarya University (SAU), he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 1995, Associate Professor in the field of Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing in 1999 and Professor in Computer Engineering Computer Software Department in 2005. He served as Associate Dean of SAU Faculty of Engineering, Chair of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Director of Continuing Education Centre and Chair of Department of Computer Engineering.

Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak who has been serving as Vice President since February 2014 works also as Dean of Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences. He is married and has two children.
